This is obsolete now! I'll leave it up for history's sake, but if you're looking for info on the current iteration of cardsharks, please look at these instead:

An FAQ For the CardShark adoptables, hosted by The Magician himself. Here he is now:

"Alright alright, so you probably have lots of questions about these card things I'm selling. Well, let me, The Magician who created these things,  give you the lowdown.

    • What are these cards with shark-ish things on them?

These are called Cardsharks, a bunch of magic cards of my own creation that I uh, "misplaced".

The sharkish things therein sort of roam around some part of the world for short periods of time and get a picture of where they were imprinted on their card, and then my personal Cshark (that’s Card Shark for short)named Tudime (because she's a Two of Diamonds) finds them and brings them back to me where I sell them to you!

They pop out of their cards when you touch them with your skin, and if its for the first time, they're recognize you as their owner. They're not really like real sharks though; a lot more friendly and loyal. Some of them are still wily, but they shouldn't be too harmful.

    • Is there an actual game behind them?

There almost was but… I didn't get that far. But you can use them however you like, even make up a game for yourself iiiif you can find enough people with their own CSharks to play with.

    • How many are there?

Oh man, I made like over a hundred and fifty of the things. No seriously. You'd think I'd have back ups, but nope! In any case, that means that there'll be a lot of unique ones to sell when Tudime finds some more, whenever that is.

    • What is this extra suit nonsense? Don't you know that there's only four in a real card set?

There are card sets with more than 4 suits you know. So adding a few more couldn't hurt. Besides, they're linked to the 7 elements of basic magic; (Fire Water Wind Earth, Electric, Light and Shadow). The 4 regular suits are there, but I needed to add Stars, Rings and Moons to accommodate for the last three.  Trust me, it makes for a lot more interesting game, whatever it was going to be.

To be specific, the suits and elements line up like this:

    Hearts/Fire - Spades/Water - Diamonds/Wind -Clubs/Earth - Stars/Electric - Rings/Light - Moons/Shadow

    • Speaking of magic, can they have magic?

I'm fairly certain they can. I mean, I'm pretty sure Tudime here uses some wind magic to track down the rest of the cards, but it's not exactly impressive. If I remember correctly, their magical abilities scale with their card rank. Lower numbers like Tudime aren't too magical, but higher ones, like a 20 card, would probably make your head spin.

    • I'm sorry, did you just imply that cards go up to twenty in number?

Yeah I sure did. There's also 5 face cards as well, adding in a Knight and Joker card into the main set.

    • Why???

Because I could, that’s why. What else would a magical deck of cards be? The way I see it, you can never have enough cards. Would have made more too if I hadn't "misplaced" my blank cards as well.

    • Speaking of, I found a blank card that looks like one of these, but with out a picture. Can I make my own?

Yeah I guess so. Those blanks should be ripe with magic still, so they aught to make a Cshark when filled in. It's probably faded a little by now though, so the magic won't be as potent as the originals, but I see no harm in doing what you will with them. I just wont catalog them like I will the ones I already lost, but if I see any I really like, I'll be sure to show them to my entourage.
[That means that CardSharks are an Open Species; you can make them for yourself if you want and put it in the group for the rest to see..! There won't be a regular species guide though, so you'll just have to rely on canon examples and your own imagination/magic if you wanna make one..!]

    • How would I get one normally?

You get them from me of course! Well you get them from me who gets them from Tudime who got them from past me? I'm selling them basically.
I'll put any cards she brings back up for sale, either a straight autobuy, or an auction, maybe even the occasional raffles, and other kinds of ways to just give them out like candy. Very slowly produced candy, but still some good stuff.
I don't really know about their personality though, but I'm sure you'll be able to fill in the rest on your own once you buy one.

There's a few, but not as many as you'd think. Magic will do that, for better or worse. As far as I remember, they:

-Are usually around the size of a small to medium sized dog, but it varies a lot.

-All have around the same sharkish body, but the actual shape varies.

    -Usually have lopped ears.

-Usually have  a long shark tail.

-Usually have a fair amount of fins, and always at least one or two on their head.

-Eyes shaped like their suit, whether it be the iris and all, or just the pupil.

-Have markings on their body also matching their suit which are a lot more saturated color comparison to the rest of their colors. The number of body suits matches the number on their card, and there are special suit designs for larger numbers, Like for 5 and 10 and especially 20. And also 1, but aces were already weird like that anyway.

    • Do they have genders?

That's a good question. I just refer to Tudime as a girl out of habit, but I don't think they do really. So its up to you in that regard.

    • Where do they live?

They'd probably end up gravitating to some place that matches their element if you ever loose track of them, but as I've seen with Tudime here, they're fairly fine with living in a normal place, like a house for instance.  Most of them prefer some kind of aquatic environment, but not all. So if you have a pool, you know what to do.

    • What are they like? Do they require a lot of care?

Being magical beings, they don’t really need to eat, but they can. You can totally have a picnic or something together if you want.  In that sense, they can basically look out for themselves, but they prefer to stick with their owners. Cute and adorable as they might be, they've still got at least a little shark in 'em, so are still pretty active and stuff.

They do need sleep though, to preform a little magic recharge and what not. More often than not, when they sleep they turn back into cards on their own, and they'll be dozing off in their little picture. You'll know they'll be good to go when they're shown as alert again. They also don't really get sick either. Maybe very occasionally they might catch a cold or something, but usually it won't come up unless they're explicitly susceptible to that kind of thing.

But the thing with them living in a normal place while being active is that they get bored rather easily.  These guys love games, even the really slow ones like monopoly! Why, I remember the last time me and Tudime played some monopoly, weeee actually don't speak about that anymore. So uh, if you got time, go play some games with 'em. Or you can leave them in their card. Your choice.

    • Do they wear things sometimes?

Yeah, i guess so. Sometimes they pic stuff up while they walk around before Tudime finds them, and that transfers over to
the card. Some of them have some pretty elaborate stuff;  I have no idea where they even find some of these things really.

    • Can they speak?

They sure can. It's magic so it'll just match whatever the owners native language is.  That was a nightmare to set up though, so you better appreciate it!

    • So how does a Cardshark flip between card and full form anyway?

Oh you know, a small flash of light, with a puff of elemental energy. Technically they can do it at will, but more often than not switch at the command of their owners, from their full form to the card form at least. In the case of card to full, its best to keep some gloves around so that you don't accidentally release them. I don't have to worry about that because I have gloves on me all the time, but you usually don't think about that kind of thing otherwise.
Most cardsharks do a little pose or action while that happens. Tudime for examples does a little twirl
before the special effects kick in. It's pretty cute.

    • What happens if the Cshark or its card gets hurt in some way? How will I trade them if they're damaged?

Well thankfully they're magic so they can sort of just regenerate after some time of resting. The card barely takes anytime at all to repair itself really, at no cost to the shark therein (Am I good magician or what?). It does sort of do an ownership reset if you nick the card too badly, so I guess you can do that when you want to give or trade a Cshark to someone else.

    • What if the card is just completely destroyed, just totally obliterated in some way?

Why would you even think about- you know what never mind. If for whatever reason the card is totaled or even just ripped so badly as to become pieces, it dissolves into raw magic for a while before reforming back around where it was found sometime later. I'm pretty sure in that situation the CShark completely resets, not only removing ownership, but memories and built up talents as well. It's pretty sad when you think about it, especially when the CShark already has an own, so down even think about letting it go that far
    • Are they any Csharks for other kinds of cards like Tarot?

...That's a good ideaaaaah I mean, probably not? Um... I guess I'll get back you on that one.

    • Why are there so many of them? What were you even doing?!

Well! I think that about wraps things up. If you have any other not-worthless questions, make sure to get 'em to me."
